PHILIPSBURG:--- The judge found it proven that K.J.C. had called the Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM) 911 emergency number and falsely reported that there was a bomb aboard a JetBlue flight.
K.J.C. was also sentenced to 240 hours community service, wherein the event of noncompliance K.J.C. will sit 120 days in prison, additional to the 8 months conditional. K.J.C. will also have 2 years to pay a NAf. 4.500,- fine.
The Public Prosecutor requested an 8-month unconditional prison sentence. In support of the request, the Public Prosecutor pointed out that the airport is the heart of the islands tourism industry and K.J.C. jeopardized the island’s image with his careless behavior.
