PHILIPSBURG:--- The St. Maarten Toastmasters Club executive officers on both sides of the island were given a four hours long training.
On Wednesday July 17, 2013 twenty Toastmasters Club officers attended the first round of club officers training for the new term at the UTS Training and Development Center.
The main objective of the training was to assist each officer to clearly understand their roles and responsibilities. At the end of the training the officers should have the necessary tools and knowledge to plan and set personal and club goals in their quest to reach success at the end of their term.
"Providing effective training for club officers is one of the most critical parts of the district's mission. Area Governors are given the mandate to plan and execute this Training. Without being properly trained, officers and clubs cannot meet members' needs or introduce the benefits of Toastmasters to others. This is why two specific training events are provided yearly by each district, one in July as an orientation, and the other in February as a "follow up" explained Area Governor Malcolm Jacques.
Club officers were given detailed information on their roles and responsibilities. Offices were also trained in leadership skills such as motivating others, coaching team members, and delegating tasks among others.
District 81 Lieutenant Governor of Education and Training, Valarie Brazier DTM, presented a session on Distinguish Club Program (DCP) and The Area Governor for Area 24, Malcolm Jacques, presented the session on the roles and responsibilities of the club officers. The Training was very interactive and met all if its objectives. Also in attendance was Distinguish Toastmaster Rolande Tobias who offered his expertise during the training.
