PHILIPSBURG:--- St. Maarten might be looking at early elections due to alleged turmoil in the SWW3 cabinet. SMN News learnt from well placed sources that the Prime Minister met with some of the faction members in Parliament that are supporting her government. The source said that at least one member of the Democratic Party already indicated that he is not into the business of breaking and making governments. The source said the DP MP made clear that he could make monies elsewhere and that he is more than ready to hand over his seat to the Prime Minister.
Other strong unconfirmed reports state that Independent Member of Parliament Romaine Laville has thrown in the towel because of the ongoing investigation against him. The source said Laville is upset with his colleague MP Jules James who is pushing the investigation on the alleged threats he made against him last year. SMN News also learnt that Laville has issues with Minister Ted Richardson who is closely related to MP Patrick Illidge. Sources within the Government apparatus said that Laville did not want to go through with the appointment of Minister Ted Richardson but he was told by some other MPs that the Minister is not going anywhere. Ever since the Minister of TEATT took his position in office he is yet to introduce himself to the people of St. Maarten.
SMN News learnt that Laville already contacted a lawyer with whom he will discuss the political crisis. SMN News tried to reach Laville by phone for a comment but he could not be reached.
